The schedule of the Quebec 2009 Summer Festival was made public during a press conference held by the organizers of the festival. Several big names will be playing from the 9th until the 16th of July 2009. The Spleen and Metric take charge of the 16th of July at the Imperial of Quebec. Let’s bet that this event will be jam-packed, and that many spectators will need to show up early in order to be part of the 800 fortunate ones who will experience an outstanding evening.
In order to attend the show, there will be a 15$-cover at the door if you do not have one of the 60 000 official passes of the Quebec Summer Fest, which are available at all Métros in the region of Quebec.

Last May 8—in front of a sold out auditorium of L’Ancienne-Lorette— The Spleen gave a 4000$ cheque for LEUCAN to the organizers of Soirées Palpitantes (Thrilling Evenings) and to the sponsors associated with the event.
The task is a success for the managers of Soirées Palpitantes. As Jean-François Perron said it, “Our objective was to collect 2500$ during the event. We are really proud because we have exceeded our objective by more than 60%”
The Honorary President Mario Martel launched the evening by inviting the band Standing Waltz on the stage— they opened the evening. Standing Waltz used the occasion to interpret some songs from their first album that was just released 4 days ago. The group was chosen because one of its members is student at the hosting high school.
Afterwards, The Spleen got on the stage in front of a crowd gone wild, and offered 90 minutes of intensity through its rhythms and airy tunes. To the surprise of the organisers of the event, many people from outside Quebec fought over the 290 tickets that were available for the occasion. Mélanie—accompanied by her friend Stéphanie— said, “I discovered the band last week when they performed at the Bell Center. I was conquered upon the first note. The next day, I told my mate, ‘we absolutely need to go see them at Quebec.’ We went on a trip and we’re really glad. The show was simply magical.”
Thumbs up to The Spleen that obtains a perfect mark. Congrats to the organisers of Soirées Palpitantes who deserve an A+ for their success. Thank you to the sponsors for their generosity.

On May 1st 2009, the last show from Marie-Mai’s tour Dangereuse Attraction was presented at Bell Center in its theatre set-up, and it was sold out for the occasion. The band from Quebec— The Spleen— was opening and had to warm up the crowd that was there in great numbers for their idol Marie-Mai. “To hear more than 7 000 people scream for you at the same time is an intense rush of adrenaline. There’s no word that could describe the feeling.” This is what Francis Frenette—the singer of the band—said a few seconds after having left the stage.
Opening the evening with an introduction worth the biggest shows, the band then began with interpreting Crash, a song from their album No More. The public immediately reacted and did not miss anything from the four other songs that were interpreted with emotion for the occasion. “They are meant for big stages,” said Alexia, one in the hundreds of fans who came there for the special event. Isabelle Laforest, as for her, said: “I had the biggest surprise when I saw them get on the stage. I had never used up my voice so much by shouting like that… I just can’t believe it…”
Without a doubt, their passage in Montreal will not remain unnoticed. The chance was a good one to show your worth. Congrats! The Spleen, you brilliantly accomplished your task.

On April 24th, The Spleen dropped by Hôtel National—an auditorium located in the middle of Beauce that attracts spectators from St-Georges to Ste-Marie and from Thetford Mines to St-Philémon. The owner of the place said, “I was expecting something nice but I was flaggerbasted by the show. Marie St-Laurent from CHEQ was right when she said on air that those who would miss this show you regret it. I’m gonna tell that to my friends… This band will go very far. Very very far!” The band gave an energetic 90-minute show that was supported by two projection screens, an impressive light show and a sound system that would render jealous the biggest show centres in the province.
Muted Scream— a local band— was the opening act. Even though they had to deal with the absence of their guitarist, the trio of Mel, Seb and Charles did not lack of ardour and of energy. Mercury City along with Burn—their theatrical singer— gave a solid performance right before the one from the quintet who was to conclude the evening. This evening will forever be remembered by those who were there.
